Danger/Danger! Double IPA, Irresponsibly Hopped

Danger/Danger Double IPA, Irresponsibly Hopped!

The Double Danger, in all it's glory
Double Danger is back! Yay!
No growler sales of Double Danger! Boo!
Sorry! We put a veritable sh*$-ton of hops in this tantalizingly refreshing and hoppy tasting Double IPA. It's named for a reason. Like the danger-yellow sign that pictures a guy falling off a cliff? You know the one. Yah, we need a sign like that with a beer mug in the guy's hand as he falls off a cliff. This beer is not to be trifled with. With that said if you drink it in moderation, it is AMAZING!

It's served in a snifter to bring out the stupendously aromatic pine, tropical fruits and citrus notes that come from the crazy amount hops we irresponsibly throw in there. But you know what? We think it's worth it to be irresponsible. Sometimes. Especially with hops. Like the old wise-folks would say: everything in moderation, including moderation, and hops.

BBQ and Beer at the Sport.
Thanks to all that came out for the 1st annual Tap into MT - Livingston brewfest and craft beer week. It was a smashing success! We had great community participation, local businesses really got behind the events all week long, and the brewfest went  off as it capped the week's festivities and this is just the beginning!

P-burg Brewing at the Brewfest

We heard from many people that they think this is Livingston's first brewfest ever! It will be even AWESOMER next year when it's the 2nd annual Tap into MT and Brewfest. Thank you Livingston, we love you a ton! Thanks to the Office for sponsoring and staffing the brewfest, and Vision Livingston for partnering and making this whole event possible.

Windy Season is OVER!

Neptune's, Katabatic's, and 406's Brewers in one place!
In case you haven't checked your anemometer lately, windy season in Livingston is officially over. Does that mean the wind doesn't blow any more? Nope, it just means the Katabatic winds have left the building. Or Paradise Valley per se. Now we will be as windy as every other town East of the Continental Divide due to storms rolling through.

For those of you who don't know, Katabatic winds are responsible for shutting down the I=90 corridor coming through Livingston. They are cold downslope winds that start in theYellowstone Park area. Cold air sinks, its starts in Yellowstone Park going downslope, down valley, and the steeper the gradient the faster cold air sinks. There is a 3000 ft drop between Yellowstone Park and Livingston and a perfect natural half-pipe to funnel the winds. After late March, early April these weather patterns subside and Livingston becomes semi-normal again. WHY DOES THIS MATTER YOU ASK?

Beacause we are now open from 12 pm to 8pm seven days a week!

Now you can come have a beer at lunch or get a growler before heading out mushroom hunting for the afternoon, or gopher hunting, or wildflower hunting, or whitewater hunting or lawn mowing? Ah, whatever, we're open from 12-8 now!

Happenings this week:

Monday: Growler Monday! and Bluegrass jam. Fill a growler and get $1 off refill, and free pint.
Tuesday: "Beer for a Cause" this week is Livingston Baseball Association!
Wednesday: Live MusicJason Moreland AKA Jbird!
Thursday: GR-Raffle Thursday. Turn in tickets #2 and #3 with name and phone and you could win your very own Katabatic growler filled with delicious beer.
Saturday: Live Music - John Floridis is a modern day Steve Vai. He will melt your eardrums on his acoustic guitar. Don't believe? Come down and see.
Sunday: Family Day, and...the sabbath, and well, it's great for playing games and drinking beer too. We have games out for y'all to play. Wanna dominate your date in a game of Chutes and Ladders? Don't worry we won't tell? Got a secret penchant for Bananagrams? You're secret is safe with us.

Hey! If you are a farmer or rancher, or you know one who wants to feed sterile spent grain to their animals, let us know here. There are no hops in it. It still has sugars in it. It is malted barley and wheat that is left over from the brew process, and is clean and sterile.

Friday: Nitro Friday!!!! This weeks Nitro suds selection is Katabatic APA on Nitro. If you haven't checked out what nitro is about, give it a try, it won't bite.

Saturday: Live Music - Tammy Hauer - Bozeman local, with a great song repertoire and great voice.

Sunday: Family day - Bring the whole fam-damnly, grab a pint, or root beer, sit down and beat the pants off your 6 year old at Battleship. Or let them win, we won't judge, we also have a ton of board games including cribbage, checkers, chutes and ladders, Livingstonopoly, Bananagrams and a bunch more.

Spent Grain from our "Base Hit" Session Pale Ale
For ROTATORS on tap we currently have Anabatic Amber Ale. A well balanced, slightly-malty initial taste that is balanced with hops and plenty of caramel notes. It finishes with a floral and tropical fruity aroma that is refreshing for this style of beer. Named after those warm afternoon upslope breezes that you experience on the perfect summer day in the mountains or on the river.
Cliff cleaning the kegs

Next up: "Base Hit" Session Pale Ale. A low-alcohol, easy drinking pale ale that is "sessionable". By sessionable we mean you can drink a few in a session without feeling too weighted down or too tipsy. Think lawn mowing beer that has a medium-bodied, "real" beer taste, not yellow fizzy stuff that tastes like carbonated dog pee. Can we say dog pee on the blog? I guess we just did.

Nitro Fridays and Anabatic Amber Ale Alert!

Introducing Nitro Fridays!!

Starting Friday April 3rd at 12pm (MST) we will tap a keg of pure Nitrogen-charged Katabatic Beery-goodness. Each Friday a new keg will be on tap. We will tap one keg at noon on Fridays, and when it's gone, it's gone man, gone!

Introducing this Friday for our inaugural pour: we are tapping Katabatic APA on Nitro.

Nitro suds

Also coming this Monday April 6th, is our newest rotator: Anabatic Amber Ale.

An amazingly well balanced malty beer with enough hops to keep it balanced, but not overly bitter. It is our Katabatic take on a West Coast Amber, dry hopped with Galaxy and Chinook hops. Weighing in at 40 IBU's, it has enough hops to back up the malty backbone, with notes of caramel, toffee, and honey.
